§ 38-44. Landscaping.

  • All planting in the cemetery shall be done in accordance with a definite plan of landscaping and can only be done by individuals outside the cemetery staff with the written permission of the cemetery superintendent. Any planting done without the superintendent's permission, or contrary to the conditions or understandings specified in that permission, may be removed by the cemetery staff.

    (1)

    A list of approved shrubs, evergreen only, will be kept at the office of the superintendent. Changes will be made as varieties become available.

    a.

    Shrubs are to be of evergreen variety.

    b.

    Upright monuments may have only one shrub on each side of the stone. The shrubs height at maturity may not exceed the top of the monument and in no case shall exceed three feet.

    c.

    If a shrub begins to interfere with a neighboring lot or exceeds three feet, the shrub shall be tagged by the superintendent, and after 30 days shall be removed.

    (2)

    When plantings have become unsightly, dangerous, diseased or an impediment to cemetery maintenance, the superintendent may remove them.

    (3)

    As a courtesy, when asked to do so, the superintendent will place flowers and bouquets upon graves, when doing so does not conflict with regulations, but assumes no responsibility in so doing.
