§ 26-420. Electrical wiring and fixtures.

Latest version.
  • All electrical installations shall be in accordance with the electrical code as adopted and in addition shall meet the requirements set forth in this section. All electrical installations shall be done by licensed electrical contractors, except when permitted to be performed by the homeowner of a single-family, owner-occupied dwelling pursuant to the electrical code.

    (1)

No electric wires shall cross either overhead or underground, any part of a private swimming pool. No electric wiring, or poles or structures supporting such wiring, shall be permitted in the five-foot area immediately surrounding the pool, except underground wiring installed in a rigid grounded conduit, or approved equal. No equipment, poles, tubes, or other devices shall be used around the pool which are of such nature or design so that there is a danger of causing an electrical connection with any person or the pool.

All underwater lights must be watertight, self-contained units. All underground electric wires supplying current to said light or lights shall be properly protected from mechanical damage.

    (2)

All metal fences, enclosures, railings, or light poles, within five feet of the outermost edge of a swimming pool, which might become electrically charged as a result of contact with broken overhead conductors, or from any other cause, shall be effectively grounded.
