§ 18-1. Definitions.

Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section:

Animal control officer means any person employed by the County of Bay for the purpose of enforcing any ordinance or state statute pertaining to dogs or other animals.

Cat means any member of the animal species Felis Catus.

Dog means any member of the animal species Canis Familiares.

Domestic fowl means any chicken, duck, goose, pheasant, or other fowl of a type normally used for food or egg production.

Farm animal means any cow, goat, horse, mule, sheep, swine or any hoofed animal.

Owner means a person having the custody of an animal or who keeps or harbors an animal, a person having the authority of the owner to be the handler of the animal, or a person who knowingly permits an animal to remain on or about any premises occupied by that person.
